A Brief Description of this Space and our Intentions
My Moon Portal is a space dedicated to the cycles of the moon as she moves through her phases and the signs of the zodiac. As we journey through the year, the moon will go through 12-13 new moon phases and 12-13 full moon phases. Each new moon and full moon phase will occur in a different zodiac sign depending on the month and season, bringing with it a particular vibration and unique opportunities.
Our hope is that My Moon Portal enables you to tap into the energies of the moon at each of these significant points during the year. By simply clicking on a moon, you will be transported through the portal into a world of cosmic insight and practical application. Prayers, poems, blessings, rituals, and simple practices for your day-to-day life are at your fingertips.
A Brief Look at Living by the Moon
Humans have utilized the reliable cycle of the moon as a time-tracking tool for thousands of years. You may be familiar with Native American names for the moon, such as Cold Moon and Strawberry Moon, given based on the season and traditional activities for that time of year.
In addition to using the moon and seasons to mark the passage of time, each lunar phase imparts its own special meaning. For example, the new moon is associated with beginnings, planting seeds, and rebirth, while the full moon is associated with culmination, full bloom, and letting go.
Correlating the time of year and the lunar phase with the zodiacal sign of the moon gives us yet another useful layer of information. Not only do we understand the season and whether we are growing or releasing, we also know something about the area or aspect of life that is being highlighted.
For example, a new moon in Aries is associated with springtime (season), new beginnings (moon phase), and initiation and individualism (the zodiac sign, Aries). If we have a full moon in Capricorn, we know we are in summer (season), culminations and illumination are on offer (moon phase), and accomplishment, structure, and integrity are highlighted (the zodiac sign, Capricorn).
